What is “Renewable” energy? Broadly defined, it is energy that comes from clean, pollution-free sources that will continue to produce energy without being depleted. Solar energy, wind power, and moving water (rivers, tides) are examples of renewable energy sources. At Bergey’s Electric, we apply our expertise and experience in electrical contracting to the design and installation of solar and wind energy systems. We also provide the necessary guidance for navigating permit and incentive applications.
The energy that comes from the sun and wind is clean, renewable, and best of all it’s free. A renewable energy system will harvest this free energy and will provide electricity or hot water that can be used in your home or business.
With a Renewable Energy system you can expect:
- Lower utility bills
- Increased property value
- Protection against utility rate increases
- Reduced impact on the environment
- Money and tax credits from the government
Solar Electric (photovoltaic) Systems:
Solar electric systems quietly convert the sun’s light into clean, carbon-free electricity. With a high-quality system designed and installed by our experienced staff, you can harvest the free energy of the sun, help the environment, and slash your electric bills at the same time.

Solar electric panels can be installed on any home or business that receives year-round solar exposure with minimal shading. Your solar system will provide electricity for your own use, and if there is excess electricity generated it will be directed back through your meter and credited to you for later use.
Solar Thermal (hot water) Systems:
Solar thermal systems utilize the sun’s heat to provide hot water for space heating or domestic uses. Solar thermal systems will store energy (heated water) in a dedicated tank and it will be utilized as needed. Solar thermal systems have the fastest payback of any solar technology (as little as 5 years).
Wind Power Systems:
For those regions with a steady wind resource, a wind turbine can provide a significant amount of electricity for your home or business. To produce meaningful amounts of energy, a potential wind site should have a minimum wind speed of 9-10 miles per hour, average, year round. We can help evaluate the potential for harvesting wind energy at your site.
From small-scale residential systems to commercial size systems, solar electric and solar thermal technology is effectively being applied in our region. An investment in a clean-energy system is a wise choice on many levels. With State and Federal incentives at unprecedented levels, there has never been a better time to move forward with renewable energy.
